Introduction

The universe is an endless sea of stars. Out there exists things beyond mankind's wildest comprehension. 100,000 years ago, a cataclysmic event rippled across the cosmos... The human race split into three distinct species in an instant.

The humanoid Humannam, the masked Onam, and the crab-like Karapp. Each rebuilt their own advanced civilisation and returned to the stars. And so began a new era. The three rediscovered each other. And after 200 years of war, peace returned to the cosmos.

As trade flourished, the bold ventured into the unknown, seeking riches. So too did numerous pirate factions, targeting merchant vessels... In AC. 127 the Rocka Bats mercenaries were founded in opposition to Federation law. They declared war on pirates and smugglers alike.

However, after Gadem Goza took control, the Rocka Bats fell into corruption, becoming the largest known criminal gang. Pillaging, smuggling, blackmail, assassination. Clyde, his son Kenny, and the other founders were in agony at the group's decline.

But only death awaits those who try to leave...

Dev Notes

This translation was started on September 22nd, and just after two months later it is finally playable from start to end (and some in between). I've translated all text as best I can, though I still lack context for some of the side scenarios. But I've done my best based on the characters / profile pictures of the speakers involved and the dialogue itself, so hopefully none of them are out of place.

I've also attempted to recreate the official manual as best I can from pictures taken by an owner of a physical copy, bar some images and the generic support page at the back. I've also included a map and a planet list, based on the accessories that come with said physical copy.

Thank you to everyone who's played this translation so far, I'm genuinely happy to have seen it well received on YouTube and social media.

This patch has been uploaded to romhack.ing with a backup on my own website, feel free to re-upload wherever you see fit. I've also included a separate document on my translation notes should anyone wish to make changes in the future or translate to other languages. All I ask is that any modifications be added to the changes list using YYYY-MM-DD formatting and add yourself to the credits.

Credits

  • BNK - main translation
  • grundo1561 - for creating the MobyGames page I stumbled upon this game through, and taking pics of the manual for translation
  • Magnvs - for the blog post that gave me further details on to this game after I stumbled upon it
  • BabaJeanmel - for sending me to the PC-98 Discord and sending me to the right people when I hit hurdles
  • Alpharobo - for figuring out the character formatting and modifying the text input to allow half-width Latin characters
  • Amiya Ch. アミヤ・アラニャ - for streaming the translation and motivating me to finish the remainder of the text (as well as playing an unintentional beta-tester during the stream)

Disclaimer

Partial non-LLM machine translation was used for more obscure terminology and robot characters that speak with a broken Japanese dialect. Every other translation was done by a partial-speaker with a dictionary aid.
